Building a career path is not an overnight effect.  

There are times when you might find yourself embracing more than one career path, but the imperative of the whole journey relies on the effectiveness and efficiency of the decision making modules.

Speaking with career counselors, career planners and/or career specialists is a sensible endeavor.  Noted, you are not obligated to take the advice of any single individual. As you would a doctor's diagnosis, get a second, third or even a fourth opinion, research/read about other's ideas, noticing what might work best for you.  Then select from the various opinions, piece together what you learned, and create a path that works best for you.  

My friends, finding truth in careers paths is journalistic.  The destination, in  my opinion, does not exist until maybe (maybe) retirement.
